Bronson Pediatric Gastroenterology

When discovered early, children's digestive problems can often be addressed more effectively. Sometimes it can be helpful just to hear your child is doing fine.

Our pediatric gastroenterologists and pediatric nurse practitioner provide family-centered care for children with digestive and related concerns. We include family members and primary care doctors in planning the best ways to meet the needs of each child.

We see infants, children and adolescents at our office by physician referral. Your child may have been referred for:

  • Intestinal surgery follow-up
  • Short gut syndrome
  • Reflux
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • Malabsorption syndrome
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Constipation
  • Encopresis (elimination disorder)
  • Diseases of the liver, pancreas and biliary tract

Bronson's pediatric gastroenterology program is a partnership between The Children's Hospital at Bronson and the C.S. Mott Children's Hospital of the University of Michigan Health System in Ann Arbor.

What to Expect
Your child will see a board certified pediatric gastroenterologist - a specially trained stomach and intestine doctor for children-as well as a pediatric nurse practitioner. The physical exam will include vital statistics (head size, height, weight, heart rate) and a detailed nutritional history.

After the exam, the doctor or nurse practitioner will meet with you and your child to explain his or her findings. We will send this information to your child's primary care provider and develop an individualized plan of care. If we recommend further tests or treatments, we will discuss them with you.

Southwest Michigan's Only Children's Hospital
Our practice is affiliated with The Children's Hospital at Bronson - a regional referral center for pediatric care.

Bronson has dedicated neonatal and pediatric intensive care units and staff to care for children-infants through adolescents-24 hours a day.

Our specialists represent just about every area of children's health, including surgery, cardiology, oncology and neurology. They know children are not just small adults. And they are trained to understand the unique ways illnesses and injuries affect children and the treatments they need.
