James Curtis, Pharm.D.
Jim is currently one of Trauma/Burn Critical Care Pharmacists at Bronson. In addition to working with the nursing staff in the critical care units, he rounds daily with the multi-disciplinary Trauma Services team and the Neurovascular Team. He has worked for more than 10 years in different critical care areas. He is currently an adjunct faculty member for Ferris State University and precepts students. James also has several active research projects involving post-operative pain management, thromboembolism prevention, delirium, and sedation monitoring.
Susan Dick, B.S., Pharm.D.
Susan graduated with her BS from Purdue University in 1984. After completing her Pharm.D. thru Ferris State University in 1999, she started the Anticoagulation Clinic at Bronson Hospital. Susan has experience with in-patient and outpatient pharmacy as well as Long-Term Care. Susan is also a Certified Anticoagulation Provider.
Jesse Hogue, Pharm.D.
Jesse Hogue received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University College of Pharmacy in 2001 and subsequently completed a one-year residency at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Following the residency and three years working in the Trauma Care and Ortho/Neuro units at Bronson, he moved to his current position in the emergency department at Bronson, helping develop the Emergency Department Pharmacist position as well as other pharmacy services in the Emergency Department. Jesse is adjunct faculty with Ferris State University College of Pharmacy, facilitating an emergency medicine rotation at Bronson for both pharmacy students and residents. He also volunteers regularly at the Free Clinic of Kalamazoo and helps orient and oversee Bronson PGY1 residents doing their volunteer service there. His professional memberships include ASHP, MSHP, MPA and WMSHP.
Renee Balding, Pharm.D.
Renee graduated with her Pharm.D. from Ferris State University in 2003. She completed a PGY1 residency in pharmacy practice at Bronson Methodist Hospital. After completion of her residency training, she began practicing as a decentralized pharmacist providing clinical services to the general medical unit at Bronson. In 2006, she started as the Residency Program Director for the PGY1 residency program at Bronson Methodist Hospital.
David Montgomery, R.Ph.
Dave graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy in 1987. He has experience in long term care pharmacy consulting, independent retail pharmacy, as well as inpatient hospital pharmacy. He practiced in pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, neonatal intensive care, as well as obstetrics. He currently practices as a decentralized pharmacist at Bronson Methodist Hospital providing clinical services to the neonatal intensive care and obstetrics/antepartum units.
Hetal Oostveen, Pharm.D.
Hetal graduated with her Pharm.D. from Ferris State University in 2003. She currently practices as a decentralized pharmacist in the critical care and cardiac units at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She also serves as adjunct faculty for the Ferris State University College of Pharmacy.
Jennifer Pawelek, B.S., Pharm.D.
Jennifer graduated with her BS in pharmacy from Ferris State University in 2002. She began practicing at Bronson Methodist Hospital, in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jennifer then went on to obtain her Pharm.D. from the University of Colorado in 2007. She currently practices as a decentralized pharmacist covering the pediatric and pediatric intensive care units at Bronson. She also provides clinical pharmacy services to the ortho-surgical/bariatric unit.
Glenda Pietryga, Pharm.D.
Glenda graduated with her Pharm.D. from Ferris State University in 2004. She currently practices as a decentralized pharmacist in the critical care and cardiac units at Bronson Methodist Hospital.
Christine Rosey, Pharm.D.
Christine graduated with her Pharm.D. from the University of Kansas in 1991. Upon graduation, she went on to complete a PGY1 residency at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She has practice experience in nursing home consulting, anticoagulation clinics, inpatient hospital pharmacy, retail pharmacy, rehabilitation hospital pharmacy, as well as precepting Pharm.D. candidates. She is currently the clinical coordinator at Bronson.
Craig Straley, Pharm.D. BCPS
Craig Straley received a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from Ferris State University many years ago. After five years in retail settings and five years in hospital settings, he returned to school at SUNY at Buffalo where he received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. After completion of the Pharm.D. program, he completed a two-year fellowship in Developmental Disabilities with the State of New York in Buffalo, NY. Much of the fellowship was involved with the use of psychotropic drugs, particularly neuroleptics, in institutionalized developmentally disabled people. At the completion of the fellowship, he accepted a position with Ferris State University with a clinical practice site at the Battle Creek Veterans Affairs Medical Center where he has been practicing since 1990. His clinical responsibilities involve working with patients and staff on the acute admitting psychiatry unit, monitoring clozapine patients, and doing pharmacy-related consults for psychiatrists and PA’s working with psychiatric patients facility-wide. For the last several years, he has also developed a practice one day a week with the KCMS Psychiatry department where he works primarily with third year psychiatry residents and KCMS/MSU psychiatry faculty. Dr. Straley has been Board Certified in Psychiatric Pharmacy since 1997. His primary interests are in general adult psychopharmacology, particularly Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, and Major Depression. He is a long-standing member of the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists, a national organization for pharmacists specializing in these areas.
Heather L. VandenBussche, Pharm.D.
Heather received her Pharm.D. from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy in 1995. She completed two residencies: pharmacy practice residency at Children's Hospital in Detroit, MI, and a pediatric pharmacy specialty residency at the University of Michigan. She is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmacy with Ferris State University College of Pharmacy and practicing in general pediatrics at Bronson Methodist Hospital.
Dean Van Loo, Pharm.D.
Dean Van Loo graduated in 1994 from the University of Michigan with a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree after completing the pre-pharmacy requirements at Calvin College. Dean then completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Following this he became a staff pharmacist at Bronson for two years and then clinical coordinator and residency director. After three years he remained at Bronson but served as a faculty member for Ferris State University, which is his current position. In 2005 he resigned the position of residency director but has remained involved in the residency program. He has been a member of ASHP since pharmacy school and is currently a member of AACP, APhA, and MPA. He was a board member and president of WMSHP, then board member and president of MSHP and is currently a board member of MPA. His main clinical interests are those in infectious diseases but also in diabetes and the effect of glucose control on infections. However, there are few areas in pharmacy that Dean does not find fascinating.
Cherie Woodhams, R.Ph.
Cherie Woodhams received her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University College of Pharmacy in 1991. Following graduation, she spent three years as a consultant pharmacist for long term care facilities and then accepted a position as a decentralized pharmacist on Pediatrics and the Cardiology Unit at Bronson Methodist Hospital. Since 2003, Woodhams has fulfilled the position of Pharmacy Educator at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She is adjunct faculty with Ferris State University College of Pharmacy as well as a member of the Everest Career Institute Advisory Board for Pharmacy Technicians. She also completes new hire orientation and oversees Bronson PGY1 residents throughout the year. Her professional memberships include ASHP, MSHP, MPA and WMSHP
