8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Fetzer Center, Western Michigan University
Kalamazoo, MI

Mission and Objectives:

This conference will highlight assessment, intervention, and clinical application of current therapies to guide nursing care for cardiac patients across the continuum of care.

Our goal is to enhance the learning opportunities for nursing staff to incorporate the knowledge of new approaches to the treatment of heart disease into the assessment, planning and delivery of expert nursing care.

At the end of the conference, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the current therapies used in treating patients with diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome of NSTEMI.
  2. Identify modes of transport and areas for improvement to decrease morbidity/mortality in the NSTEMI & STEMI patients during transport to a tertiary cardiac center.
  3. Identify risk factors for stroke and current stroke guidelines.
  4. Identify the differences in presentation and treatment of women with heart disease.
  5. Discuss how humor and laughter impact physical, psychological and spiritual health.
