Emergency Department Patient Guide
What to expect when you arrive
The first stop is our reception desk, where you will give our staff information to begin your medical record. Then you will wait in our waiting area until a nurse calls you to the triage room.
"Triage" means deciding which patients need help first. In the triage room, a registered nurse will ask you questions, take your blood pressure and your temperature, and look at any injuries. The nurse will decide which area of the Emergency Department is appropriate for your condition.
You will return to the waiting area, and we will call you as soon as your room is ready. We will make every effort to have a doctor examine you and begin treatment as quickly as possible.
Your right to emergency treatment
You have certain rights as a patient at Bronson.
- You have the right to be seen in the Emergency Department even if your insurance company doesn't approve it, or even if you don't have insurance. (Please note that there will still be a charge for services.)
- You also have the right to privacy, which means we will keep your personal and medical information confidential.
- You have the right to ask questions about your care here, to understand what we find during your visit, and to get instructions that you can understand when you go home.
