The 2008 Thomson Reuters 100 Top Hospitals®: Cardiovascular Benchmarks for Success study identifies 100 hospitals in the United States that set the highest national performance levels for both clinical and managerial excellence in heart care. Bronson also earned a five-star rating, the highest possible, for the treatment of heart attack (2011) and for the treatment of heart failure for the fourth straight year (2008-2011).
Chest Pain Treatment
Bronson offers special expertise in treating chest pain. Bronson was southwest Michigan's first accredited Chest Pain Center and has full Cycle III accreditation with PCI (2010), the highest level possible. To earn this distinction, a hospital must meet or exceed a wide set of stringent criteria and complete onsite evaluations by a review team from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
Gold Performance Achievement Awards
Bronson was one of only 135 hospitals in the nation to receive the NCDR® ACTION Registry®-GWTG™ Gold Performance Achievement Award in 2010 for implementing a higher standard of care for heart attack patients. The treatment guidelines are established by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. Bronson also received Get With The Guidelines® Heart Failure Gold Performance Award in 2010 for treating heart failure patients in compliance with the core standard levels of care issued by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
Cardiac Specialty Center
Bronson Methodist Hospital has been designated a UnitedHealth PremiumSM cardiac specialty center (2004-2010), reflecting national recognition of its cardiac care services. Bronson was the first hospital in the state of Michigan to receive this designation.
The UnitedHealth PremiumSM cardiac specialty centers program identifies hospitals nationwide that are leaders in providing cardiac care. Select hospitals in the UnitedHealthcare network are invited to apply for designation. Hospitals are selected for designation as cardiac specialty centers based on scope of services and quality outcomes.
Governor's Award for Excellence
For the fifth year in a row, Bronson has received the Governor's Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Hospital and Emergency Department Setting. The award is given to hospitals that are embracing evidence-based medicine and quality improvement initiatives to advance healthcare in Michigan.
Bronson used proven, evidence-based practices to produce successful measured outcomes in selected clinical areas. Selected areas included heart attack, heart failure and surgical infection prevention for inpatients, as well as pneumonia and heart attack for the Emergency Department.
