Bronson, HealthCare Midwest and K Valley Orthopedics/Southwestern Michigan Sportsmedicine Clinic have partnered to form Bronson Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, the area’s most comprehensive multi-disciplinary group of orthopedic physicians. Twenty-three physicians represent a wide variety of orthopedic subspecialties including fellowship-trained foot; ankle and lower extremity trauma; hand, wrist and elbow; adult reconstructive surgery of the hip and knee; microvascular; spine disorders; sports medicine; and orthopedic trauma.

This partnership offers the most sub-specialty and fellowship trained orthopedic and sports medicine physicians, more collective experience in orthopedics and sports medicine, a high level of collaboration and the combined strength and resources from Bronson, HealthCare Midwest and K Valley Orthopedics.

Pediatric orthopedic care is also available at Bronson Children’s Hospital, southwest Michigan’s only children’s hospital.

With 18 state-of-the-art surgical suites, Bronson is the site for thousands of orthopedic procedures each year. This includes a range of arthroscopic and other minimally invasive surgeries. In fact, Bronson is ranked among the top 10 percent of hospitals in the nation for joint replacement surgery and is best rated in Kalamazoo for overall orthopedics, according to HealthGrades®.

Quality
HealthGrades® is a national organization that uses Medicare data to rate how well hospitals perform specific procedures. In 2011, Bronson is ranked among the top 10% of hospitals in the nation for joint replacement surgery (five years in a row 2007-2011) and best rated in Kalamazoo for overall orthopedics and joint replacement surgery, according to HealthGrades®.

In addition, in 2011 Bronson earned five stars - the highest quality rating - for:

  • Joint replacement surgery (five years in a row 2007-2011)
  • Total hip replacement surgery (eight years in a row 2004-2011)
  • Total knee replacement surgery (five years in a row 2007-2011)

Every year, Bronson conducts a Community Perception Study to measure the community's perception of our services. Our 2010 study shows that in Kalamazoo County, Bronson is preferred 2 to 1 for orthopedic care.
