Ed Annen's Story
It was noon on a Wednesday in August when Ed Annen, former Kalamazoo mayor, first felt a dull ache in his arm and chest and began sweating. Concerned, he laid down to see if the symptoms would subside. When they continued to persist he decided to seek medical treatment.
He arrived Bronson's Chest Pain Emergency Center and told the staff, "I think I'm having a heart attack." From the moment he entered until he was discharged two days later, Annen says, "I received excellent and quick care."
"I received immediate attention, and the nurses told me everything they were doing and why they were doing it. I had an EKG quickly and was talking to a cardiologist so fast," comments Annen. "There never was a delay and I appreciated knowing what was going on," reflects Annen.
Soon after arriving, Annen was diagnosed with a completely blocked artery and had a stent put in.
Annen chose Bronson because of his family members and friends' positive experiences. "I knew I would receive outstanding care and had complete confidence in the expertise of the doctors and staff," states Annen. In addition to the excellent medical attention he received, Annen complements Bronson on its amenities. "I really appreciated the private rooms - they were comfortable, cheery, open, and clean," says Annen. He continues, "And, the food was tasteful and delivered promptly."
"From the time I entered until the time I was wheeled out at discharge everyone was extremely helpful. Bronson is unparalleled-I can't say enough good things about the care I received," Annen reflects.
