Katie Harrelson is responsible for the overall functions of nursing and several key support departments within the Bronson system. Harrelson’s areas of accountability include nursing clinical quality, development of staffing models, professional development for clinical nurses and nurse leaders, and ensuring alignment of nursing practice into the organization’s strategic and operational planning processes.

Harrelson has been a registered nurse for 20 years, all of them at Bronson. She began her career as a staff nurse and has held a variety of roles during her tenure. Harrelson served as the patient care analyst for Bronson’s organizational transformation during the 1990s. After the completion of that project, she served as the director of reengineering for several years until her promotion to chief nurse executive.

Harrelson received her Associate Nursing Degree from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and her bachelor’s degree in Health Studies and Economics from Western Michigan University. She obtained her master’s degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. Harrelson is an active member of several professional organizations.
