National Consumer Survey Names Bronson Best Area Hospital

November 09, 2007

National Research Corporation (NRC) recently presented Bronson Methodist Hospital with the 2007/2008 Consumer Choice Award for the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek area. This is the fifth year in a row that Bronson has received this honor.

The award identifies hospitals that healthcare consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image based on responses to four questions – Which hospital is your top choice for: 1) best overall quality, 2) best image and reputation, 3) best doctors, and 4) best nurses?

NRC CEO Michael D. Hays said recipients are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company’s annual NRC Healthcare Market Guide® study. Of the 3,000 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the chosen facilities rank highest in their Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA’s), as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The 2007/2008 NRC Healthcare Market Guide surveyed over 200,000 households representing over 400,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 sates and the District of Columbia.

Bronson was selected for the Consumer Choice Award by residents of the Kalamazoo-Battle Creek area demonstrating their knowledge of the hospital’s reputation for quality healthcare.

The 2007/2008 Healthcare Market Guide is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. No other study used to measure hospital performance and preferences contain more consumer responses than the NRC study. The study has a margin of error of + or – 0.2 percent at a national level.

National Research Corporation (NASDAQ: NRCI) is an industry leader, with more than two decades of experience in healthcare performance measurement and improvement.
