February 19, 2008
KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Bronson Health Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its board of directors. Dennis DeHaan, vice president of Mall City Mechanical, and Carole C. Holmes, president of BL Harroun and Son, have begun three-year, renewable terms.
Both DeHaan and Holmes are active in other civic organizations and bring a depth of experience to the Bronson Health Foundation board as well as a commitment to the work of Bronson and the Foundation. A past board member with Plainwell Public Schools, DeHaan is also active with his church and involved with Plainwell Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Holmes holds volunteer leadership positions with the Oshtemo Rotary, most notably serving as chair of that organization’s foundation. She is also a Paul Harris fellow and is actively involved with other professional organizations.
“This year the Bronson Health Foundation celebrates 25 years of serving Bronson Methodist Hospital and the Kalamazoo community,” said Angela Graham, Bronson Health Foundation administrative director. “The Foundation is led entirely by local citizens, and the addition of Dennis and Carole helps ensure continued community input and guidance.”
DeHaan and Holmes join 14 current and active emeriti board members in providing leadership to the foundation.
The mission of the Bronson Health Foundation is to provide support to Bronson Methodist Hospital and community partners in their efforts to improve the health status of individuals by promoting physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being. Established in 1983, the Bronson Health Foundation supports Bronson in its efforts to improve health for the individual and the community.
Bronson Methodist Hospital has accepted all patients in need of care since its founding in 1899. Today, Bronson provides more charity care than any other hospital in southwest Michigan. The generosity of the community makes it possible to provide a wide array of special services to patients and families. These patients include those with burns, cancer, children with life-threatening illnesses, senior adults, premature infants, and families overwhelmed with a medical crisis.
