April 26, 2010

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Bronson Methodist Hospital welcomes Paula Kilmer, M.D. to Bronson Neurological Services. She will work with the team of Bronson Neurology and Bronson Neurosurgery to expand options for patients.

Kilmer specializes in the medical management of non-surgical spine treatments. She works collaboratively with patients and other disciplines including physical therapists, chiropractors, neurologists and neurosurgeons to ensure appropriate and timely care. Kilmer’s special interests include back and neck pain, EMG, pre- and post-surgical spinal therapies, trigger point injections and consultations.

Kilmer is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and electrodiagnostic medicine. She completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, and internship in internal medicine at St. John’s Hospital in Detroit. She received her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, and bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University.

Bronson’s neurosciences team works closely with colleagues in neurology, neurosurgery, neuro critical care, epileptology, medical spine care, oncology, neuroradiology, orthopedics, chiropractic, physical therapy, and rehabilitation to best meet each patient’s individual needs. A collaborative team approach is an important component of the Bronson neuroscience program due to the complex nature of neurological cases.

According to a recent survey by Professional Research Consultants, Inc., Kalamazoo County residents prefer Bronson for neurosurgery, head injury and stroke, and spine and back care. Bronson has also been rated five stars (the highest rating) for back and neck surgery with spinal fusion by HealthGrades® from 2007 - 2010. Bronson has also been a Joint Commission-accredited Primary Stroke Center since 2005.

The Bronson Neurological Services team is located in the Medical Office Pavilion at Bronson Methodist Hospital, 601 John Street, Suite M-124 in Kalamazoo. Kilmer can be reached at (269) 341-6677.
