Bronson Methodist Hospital Receives 2006 Governor’s AwardOctober 12, 2007 For the fourth year in a row, Bronson Methodist Hospital has received a Governor’s Award. This award recognizes Bronson for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care in the Hospital Setting. Bronson received the accolade for the following areas:
The Governor, in concert with MPRO – Michigan’s Medicarement initiatives to advance health care in Michigan. Led by designated physician champions and project leaders, Bronson used proven, evidence-based practices to produce successful measured outcomes in selected clinical areas. Selected areas included Acute Myocardial Infarcation (heart attack), Heart Failure and Surgical Infection Prevention for inpatients, as well as Pneumonia and Acute Myocardical Infarction for the Emergency Department. The highlighted topics have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). “Few things affect our quality of life and the quality of our work more than our good health,” said Governor Jennifer M. Granholm. “It’s important to recognize hospitals and health care professionals who are making positive strides toward providing our citizens with accessible and affordable health care.” “In Michigan, the Governor’s Award is synonymous with excellence among providers and consumers alike,” said Debra L. Moss, M.D., M.B.A., president and chief executive officer, MPRO. Dr. Moss added, “We applaud Bronson for implementing initiatives to provide the right care, at the right time, and improve the quality of life for their patients.” In addition to this quality achievement, Bronson Methodist Hospital is the recipient of the 2005 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest presidential honor for quality and organizational performance excellence, and was named one of the nation's 100 Top Hospitals for 2005 by Solucient. |
