Bronson Practices Receive the 2007 Governor's Award of Excellence
June 19, 2008
Seven of Bronson Medical Group’s primary care practices have received the 2007 Governor’s Award of Excellence for Improving Care in the Ambulatory Care Setting.
The Bronson practices recognized were: Bronson Family Medicine Downtown, Bronson Family Practice Oshtemo, Bronson Family Medicine Portage, Bronson Internal Medicine Downtown, Bronson Internal Medicine Oshtemo, Bronson Internal Medicine Associates, and Bronson Outpatient Center Paw Paw.
The award acknowledges excellence in healthcare quality and safety. The 2007 awards mark the seventh year that the Governor and MPRO have honored physicians’ offices statewide.
Award criterion aligns with the Physician Office Quality Improvement Program including the Doctor’s Office Quality-Information Technology (DOQ-IT). The DOQ-IT project promotes the adoption of electronic health record systems in small-to-medium sized physician offices. The clinical topics addressed by the Governor’s Award have been designated as national health care priorities by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Clinical areas of focus are individually selected from one of the following areas: preventive care, coronary artery disease, diabetes mellitus, heart failure, or cancer screening.
“We used nationally recognized standards to assure that consistent care and evidenced-based medicine and protocols were carried out to realize notable improvement and better patient outcomes,” said Laurel Wilson, Bronson Medical Group practice administrator. “We feel very proud to receive this distinguished award.”
Bronson Medical Group practices are part of the Bronson health system based in Kalamazoo, Mich.
