The Children's Hospital at Bronson Hosting 5k Walk
September 18, 2008
To promote healthy lifestyles for children and raise money for seriously ill and injured children, The Children’s Hospital at Bronson, in collaboration with Together for Kids and its member hospitals, is launching Walk Across America, its first national fundraising campaign. The Children’s Hospital at Bronson is hosting its 5k walk on Sunday, October 5 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Bronson’s downtown Kalamazoo campus in the John Street Lot at the corner of John and Lovell streets.
“The Children’s Hospital at Bronson is a recipient of all funds raised locally,” said Deb Carpenter, Bronson coordinator, childhood injury prevention and school outreach. “If you would like to walk, or know people who would like to walk, please join us. Support a great cause, get some exercise, and bring the whole family.”
Registration can be done online. Visit togetherforkids.org/walk and click "Join the Walk." Select The Children’s Hospital at Bronson as the designated hospital. A minimum donation of $25 per person is recommended.
Countless children around the nation today face increasing challenges to their health and well-being—challenges ranging from the growing numbers of uninsured kids to the steadily climbing statistics on childhood obesity. Meanwhile, funding for children’s healthcare from public and private payers is shrinking. Together for Kids serves as a catalyst for fundraising to help member hospitals across the country tackle these challenges and bring better healthcare to more of America’s children. As a member of Together for Kids, The Children’s at Bronson shares their commitment to raising money to help hospitalized children.
The Children’s Hospital at Bronson is dedicated to providing excellence in pediatric care in the face of mounting challenges. Serving 40,000 children annually in virtually every specialty in children’s health, The Children’s Hospital at Bronson provides care to all people, regardless of ability to pay. Bronson is the largest Medicaid provider outside of Southeast Michigan. In addition, it is the only hospital in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek areas providing pediatric inpatient care and is one of only six children’s hospitals in Michigan. Bronson is a Level I Trauma Center for both children and adults. The Children’s Hospital at Bronson is a member of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions.
