Bronson Expands Neurosurgery Team
February 10, 2009
Bronson Methodist Hospital welcomes Alain Fabi, M.D to its medical staff. Fabi joins the neurosurgery team of Bratislav Velimirovic, M.D., Ph.D.; and Daryl Warder, M.D., Ph.D. with Bronson Neurological Services.
Specializing in minimally invasive brain and spine surgery, Fabi is a board certified neurosurgeon. His additional interests include deep brain stimulation and stereotactic frame surgery. Fabi has practiced in southwest Michigan since 2000.
Fabi completed his residency in neurological surgery and internship in general surgery at the Mayo Clinic. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, master’s degree from Wayne State University, and bachelor’s degree from Albion College in Albion, Mich.
In addition, Fabi is a member of The American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, Michigan State Medical Association, American Medical Association and Movement Disorders Society.
Neurological surgeries performed by Fabi and the neurosurgery team at Bronson includes the most advanced minimally invasive surgery techniques to treat brain tumors, vascular disorders, movement disorders (deep brain stimulation), and spinal and peripheral nerve problems. Fabi is a pioneer in minimally invasive brain and spine surgery, which has been proven to reduce blood loss and patient recovery time. These procedures can also have fewer complications than traditional brain or spine surgery and shorter patient lengths of stay.
Bronson’s neurosurgical team works closely with colleagues in neurology, neuro critical care, epileptology, physiatry, oncology, neuroradiology, orthopedics, chiropractic, physical therapy, and rehabilitation to best meet each patient’s individual needs. A collaborative team approach is an important component of the Bronson neuroscience program due to the complex nature of neurological cases.
Bronson is the only hospital in southwest Michigan to receive the HealthGrades® 2009 Spine Surgery Excellence AwardTM and to be rated five stars (the highest rating) for back and neck surgery with spinal fusion three years in a row.
Fabi’s office with Bronson Neurological Services is located in the Medical Office Pavilion at Bronson Methodist Hospital, 601 John Street, Suite M-124 in Kalamazoo.
Additionally, Bronson neurosurgeons and support staff practice in two other convenient locations in Battle Creek and Paw Paw. Bronson neurosurgeons may be reached at (269) 341-7500 and have immediate openings available for patient consults.
