KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Working Mother magazine announced today that Bronson Healthcare Group has been named to its 100 Best Companies list for 2011.  The announcement marks the eighth year that Bronson has been recognized among the nation’s most family-friendly employers.

Bronson is this area’s largest employer. The non-profit regional healthcare system has 6,600 employees and eighty percent of its workforce is female. Demonstrating a strong commitment to working parents, Bronson, like this year’s other 100 Best companies, offers flextime hours, telecommuting, paid maternity leave and employee assistance programs.

“We are incredibly honored to be named one of Working Mother’s 100 Best Companies,” said Frank J. Sardone, Bronson president and CEO.  “It tells us that the culture within our organization is successfully helping employees balance work and family life in ways that are on target with best practices in employment. The outcome is an engaged, highly skilled, highly satisfied workforce, and that’s what makes the patient care experience at Bronson so exceptional.”

Working Mother draws its 100 Best Companies list from all industries and organizations of all sizes.  It highlights those top companies that are paving the way for new moms and families.

“With more than 169,000 women hired last year, this year’s 100 Best Companies make up an impressive group of winners who offer family-driven programs and benefits that far outpace their competitors,” said Carol Evans, President, Working Mother Media. “This year’s winning companies are proof that success lies in the numbers—97 percent of companies are offering prenatal education, weight-loss, wellness, and stress-reduction programs to employees at every level.”

The Working Mother 100 Best Companies are judged on answers to 650 questions including data on the access and usage of flexible work arrangements, parental leave, childcare, health and wellness support and the advancement of women to all levels of management.

Seven areas were measured and scored:  workforce profile, benefits, women’s issues and advancement, child care, flexible work, parental leave and company culture.  For this year’s 100 Best, particular weight was given to benefits, flexibility and parental leave.
