Healthier Hospitals Initiative (2014)
Bronson Methodist Hospital is part of the Healthier Hospitals Initiative, a national campaign to implement a completely new approach to improving environmental health and sustainability in the healthcare sector. The goal is for hospitals to improve sustainability in six key areas: engaged leadership, healthier foods, leaner energy, less waste, safer chemicals, and smarter purchasing. Bronson Methodist Hospital has committed to healthier food.
Healthy Food Hospitals Campaign - Four Stars (2010-2020)
Bronson Methodist Hospital is part of the Healthy Food Hospitals campaign, which gives Michigan hospitals the opportunity to model exemplary food service choices and nutritional selections to support the health of all those who walk through their doors. The heightened emphasis and understanding of healthy eating is also designed to inspire such choices by patients and others after they leave the hospital. The initiative encompasses four steps or "stars." The combined implementation of all four stars displays the importance of healthy eating, weight management and the modeling of healthy food environments. Bronson Methodist Hospital has achieved all four stars.

Environmental Leadership Circle Award from Practice Greenhealth (2003-2013)
Bronson Methodist Hospital received this top national honor from Practice Greenhealth (formerly Hospitals for a Healthy Environment). The Environmental Leadership Circle recognizes healthcare facilities that exemplify environmental excellence and are setting the highest standards for environmental practices in health care. To be considered, facilities must meet the criteria for eliminating mercury, recycle at least 25 percent of their total waste stream, have implemented numerous other innovative pollution prevention programs, and are leaders in their community.
50 Greenest Hospitals in America (2013)
Becker's Hospital Review, a national healthcare publication, named Bronson Methodist Hospital one of the 50 Greenest Hospitals in America. The list was developed from sources such as Practice Greenhealth, Health Care Without Harm, Healthier Hospitals Initiative, the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program, the Environmental Protection Agency and other experts. Hospitals on the list lead by example through mass-scale and local carbon-cutting efforts and demonstrate how environmental sustainability is everyone's responsibility.
