Patients in Need Fund (formerly Good Neighbor Fund)
The purpose of the Patients in Need Fund (formerly known as the Good Neighbor Fund) is to provide assistance for out-of-pocket needs that can devastate individuals or families when a medical crisis arises. It is used to help Bronson patients and their families to possibly provide clothing for a loved one in the Emergency Department; or a warm blanket for a cardiac patient; or a soothing and peaceful waiting area for children before surgery.
It can also include purchasing eyeglasses, dentures, home health safety items, cold-weather clothing, transportation, exams, and other support for patients. Decisions about disbursements are made with input and guidance from Patient Relations, Social Work, and Pastoral Care.
Donations from this fund are used for multiple needs including purchasing clothing for the patient clothes closet. This is available for patients, for any reason, who are unable to leave the hospital in the clothing they were wearing when they arrived. Donations to this fund also helped purchase pack and plays for new moms who do not have a safe sleeping space for their newborn, transportation costs for patients, as well as scholarships for staff to attend a Bereavement Perinatal Conference.
