The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a unique care
environment, providing up-to-date intensive care to newborn babies. NICU
patients are the youngest and smallest patients in Bronson
Children’s Hospital, from extremely small premature infants to
full-term newborn babies.
The NICU at Bronson is one of only a handful in the country to offer
all-private rooms, delivering neonatal intensive care according to this
higher standard. Research shows that private rooms help reduce
hospital-acquired infections. In the NICU, they also foster infant
development and protect patient and family privacy.
The NICU fund supports the NICU with an emphasis on enhancements to
and safeguarding the patient experience.
This includes but is not limited to programs and activities for patients and families, training and education for NICU staff, and new technologies for the unit.
