Donor Story - Mike Lawrence

Mike Lawrence has been a volunteer at Bronson Battle Creek (BBC) since January 2012. Mike shares that his "mother volunteered in the gift shop at BBC before me so it was a natural move when I retired in November 2011. I love doing it!”

Mike is now President of the BBC Volunteers. From transporting patients to knitting hats, Bronson Battle Creek volunteers work selflessly to serve patients and their families. More than 400 volunteers donate nearly 50,000 hours a year in many areas of the hospital. All proceeds from the volunteer-run gift shop are also given to support services for patients.

In 2016, Mike made a decision to make a planned gift to benefit Bronson. By leaving a planned gift, Mike and his family become part of a legacy society whose generosity enhances healthcare for people in our community today, tomorrow and forever.

“When I decided to volunteer, I got an intrinsic reward - a second family. I am so fond of the hospital and I just wanted to give back to a place that has provided me with so much.”
