We want to do what we can to help the community that means so much to us.

When Todd and Amy Sanford’s grandson Wells was born at just 27 weeks, he was immediately taken to Bronson Children’s Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The Sanfords say their new grandson was so small, he fit in the palm of Todd’s hand. The couple visited often during Wells’ 95 days in the NICU. The kindness, friendliness and expertise of the physicians and staff made them feel just like family.
Now almost two, Wells still faces some challenges but continues to make great strides. Most recently, he has become a “mischievous climber,” just like other toddlers his age.
Earlier this year, when the Sanfords learned the NICU needed a new isolette, specifically designed to help babies develop and grow, they stepped up to help. “It kind of touched our hearts to be able to make a gift to help fix that,” says Amy. “An isolette is their world,” adds Todd. “It helps keep babies safe and alive and gives them a chance.”
This isn’t the Sanfords’ first gift to Bronson Health Foundation. They have also supported holiday celebrations in the NICU and food and respite for healthcare workers during the pandemic. Supporting their locally based health system is important to them. “We have a lot of love for Kalamazoo and want to do what we can to help the community that means so much to us,” say the Sanfords. “Bronson Children’s Hospital is a vital community asset, and we are blessed that it’s in our area
