A calm presence in the storm

Nan was the nurse for my wife Sara in July 2025 while we were navigating a completely unexpected multiple myeloma diagnosis. As events unfolded rapidly, we very much felt like we were drinking from a fire hose. Nan joined our care team and immediately brought with her a sense of calm that permeated the room. She was always friendly and engaging, and showed an evident desire to not just hear, but to listen. It felt to us like she cared about my wife as a person, not just a patient. On several occasions, my wife noted that Nan was softly humming under her breath while providing care. It was unexpected yet soothing. When my wife commented on it, Nan seemed to be unaware that she was doing it. I think this is a testament to how deeply rooted this gentle part of Nan's personality is. It's not something she does, it's who she is. Nan's authentic gentleness and genuine care were some of the very best parts of this generally difficult situation. Whether she wins an award or not, she's an invaluable asset to Bronson and a priceless gift to her patients.
