My Career Path at Bronson
Before my previous role, I was a staff therapist at Bronson South Haven Hospital. I had worked there as a staff therapist from 2006 to 2013.
A Day in the Life
I support multiple sites, so I am moving between locations often. I’m often rounding with patients and staff to promote a positive patient and work experience. My role is largely administrative, though I get the opportunity to still be involved in patient care as well.
What I Like About My Job
I’m grateful for the opportunity to support my team and the patients we serve, and to be part of a leadership team that works hard to improve the staff experience while sustaining a business that supports Bronson’s mission to advance the health of our communities.
Why I'm Proud to Work at Bronson
I’ve worked for several different employers. Bronson cares about its people, the patients we serve and the communities we support.
In rehab specifically, we have worked hard to build a sustainable model that allows staff to work one-on-one with patients, which is important from both a quality and satisfaction standpoint—for both our staff and patients.
This is not standard for the industry, where therapists at most rehab facilities will see multiple patients at one time. This sets us apart from our peers, where their primary focus is on profit instead of patient.
Despite this focus, Bronson continues to be competitive in pay and benefits, outpacing both private practices and hospital systems in our market.
The staff at our facilities are exceptional and this has resulted in a culture that is unmatched.
Benefits That Matter
The wellness dollars are unique and are a nice bonus. Staff accrue PTO at a higher level than other similar employers. We also accrue PTO during times of low census and support staff by paying them for their time during clinic closures—both are not offered by other health systems in our region.
What Bronson Positivity Means to Me
Having an awareness of the privilege we have to work as part of a great team and using that opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of our employees, our patients and our communities.
Leadership That Supports
I appreciate the leadership of our team, and our Director of Rehab, Carl Fried, along with our System COO/VP Dr. Kim Hatchel, and BLH/BSH COO/VP Dr. Matt Dommer. All of them have shown consistent support for rehab, and their support allows us to do the great work that we do.
