Alexis Models Excellence in Patient Safety and Innovation

Alexis Jankowiak has provided exceptional effort in developing and participating in the hospital's new inpatient and ambulatory ileostomy protocol. [This care process supports patients who’ve had surgery to create an opening in the abdomen that allows waste to leave the body when the intestines aren’t working properly.] Her high level of organization, diligence, personalization, patience and expertise has directly and positively impacted dozens of patients since this protocol went live in January of 2025. She alone has prevented numerous patient readmissions through improved patient points of contact and frequent communications with providers. She is clearly working to the very top of her licensure to assist patients in navigating new stoma management.
Beyond this she performs directed, but independent, post-surgical wound care evaluations. This has positively impacted our patients throughput and physician/APP time-to-be-seen. She works almost as if she was a nurse navigator for our inpatient service, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up after acute care general surgery hospital stays. [Her clinical skills are exceptional, and she has a sharp eye for spotting potential problems early. This allows our team to intervene before harm reaches our patients.]
She participates in educational opportunities with our office staff, she stands up for patient safety, and she exemplifies exactly what it is to be a model Bronson nurse. I cannot say enough excellent things about Alexis, and with every fiber of my being believe she deserves recognition for her excellent actions.
