I credit the incredible nurses and my pediatric oncologist for saving my life

30 years ago next month, I completed my last round of chemotherapy at Bronson.

In 1991, I was diagnosed at 3 years old with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). At the time, I was a part of the first group of patients that came through Bronson’s Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Clinic. I credit the incredible nurses and my pediatric oncologist (Dr. Mattano) for saving my life. In November 1993, I wrapped up my chemotherapy treatment at Bronson and have been in remission since! The compassionate care that I received during my time at Bronson was one of my biggest inspirations to continue down the healthcare path and become an RN.

Fast forward 30 years- I have now worked at Bronson for 13 years (almost 10 of these years as an RN!). I am now a Staff Development Instructor in Education Services. I feel privileged to teach in our MAT program, as well as to help onboard, train, and develop staff within our organization.

Bronson has been instrumental in some of the most significant moments of my life. I was born here, my children were born here, and my life was saved here. I will always be Bronson Proud!
