Jamie is an amazing leader and invaluable asset to our team

Jamie James, BSN, RN, is the recipient of the 2025 DAISY Unit Coordinator Award

On any given day you will see Jamie starting the morning by helping with med passes, dancing and singing in the hallways and with patients, and creating an environment where you always feel heard and supported. There have been countless shifts where many of our staff members have needed an extra hand and Jamie is always there without even needing to be asked. She is constantly advocating for our team and for patients when she does not feel that things are right, and if anyone ever has questions on how to handle a situation, we know she is the one we can go to no matter what. On top of being supportive in the workplace, Jamie has been in charge of collecting donations for staff members on multiple occasions when personal situations have happened, and she is truly always going the extra mile when our staff needs it the most. Jamie’s dedication, kindness, and passion for nursing is unmatched and I truly think she deserves to be recognized for all that she has done for our EMCU team and every patient she has left a positive impact on.

First let me start off by saying, I have never had management who so diligently works hard to make sure the team stays unified. Jamie truly exemplifies nursing and being a nurse manager. As a new nurse I was worried about fitting in, getting along, and trying to carry my weight as a team member. Jamie has always made me feel welcomed on this unit. She “goes to bat for us” and never turns her back on us. When holidays, birthdays, or maybe even a made-up celebration is happening, she finds a way to celebrate the individual. She respects boundaries and cares A LOT for her team. She is a very humble and appreciative. Even when the odds may not be in her favor, she always tries to show up with a smile, a song, and good vibes. I have only been on the unit for a short time but I can see her heart is bigger than we can even imagine. When people offer to help her during times when family means everything and celebrating events with the grandkids brings joy to her heart, she doesn’t want to inconvenience anyone else. She makes it a point to return the favor. She truly LOVES and SUPPORTS this team. She puts her all into this family we have created among the team. I, not only as a new nurse but as a human being, really appreciate and admire her character, her loving energy and her AUTHENTICITY.
