DAISY Nurse Educator Award: Nomination #1

On behalf of our unit, I would like to nominate our OB nurse educator, Carrie Scholten for the incredible dedication she shows to our unit and all the nurses she supports. In labor and delivery, our environment can change in seconds and clinical excellence is critical; having a strong educator makes all the difference.

She works tirelessly to ensure our team feels confident, prepared, and supported. What truly stands out is her willingness to listen. She regularly asks for feedback from the bedside nurses and genuinely incorporates input into her teaching and education plans. That level of responsiveness makes staff feel heard and valued, and it ensures the education we receive is relevant to the real challenges we face on the unit.

Beyond her knowledge and work ethic, she is consistently respectful, approachable, and supportive. No matter how busy the unit is, she makes time for questions, guidance, and encouragement. Nurses at every stage of their career feel comfortable reaching out to her, which fosters a culture of learning, growth, and teamwork.

Her impact extends far beyond education sessions—she strengthens the confidence of our nurses and ultimately improves the care we provide to the families who trust us during some of the most important moments of their lives.

An exceptional educator doesn’t just teach skills; they inspire confidence and elevate an entire team—and she does that for our unit every single day.

DAISY Nurse Educator Award: Nomination #2

I worked with Carrie during a 1:1 education and since I’m new to L&D she has been helping my transition go smoothly and comfortably in adjusting to my new role. she is patient, lets me ask good questions, and is available even when I'm home and I can text her which I very much appreciate. Thank you, Carrie, for helping me understand L&D better and working closely with me to become a stellar L&D nurse!
