I strive to provide the kind of care Angie gives her patients

Photo of Angie, Bronson Battle Creek nurse. One of Angie's best characteristics as a nurse is her compassion toward her patients. On the Bronson Battle Creek Oncology/C5 Unit, we had a patient who was here for many months who also suffered from dementia. The patient was always kind and everyone knew him by name, but he often could not remember staff – but Angie was one of the few he did. Every day, this patient would order the exact same meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. One day, Angie decided to take this patient down to the cafeteria to allow him to order something different. With permission, she would take him on walks outside to get some fresh air and enjoy the sunshine. With a busy patient load, she would always make time to really go the extra mile to give him the best care, as C5 quickly became like a family to him. On his last day on the unit, Angie had the idea of giving this patient a Bronson t-shirt in remembrance of all of us and he was so thankful. This is just one example of the compassionate care Angie provides however this level of care is what she provides on a regular basis and it doesn't go unnoticed. I look up to Angie as a nurse and strive to provide the kind of care she gives her patients.
