Thanks to my amazing care team, I’ve been able to experience so much in life.

Beverly, a former cancer patient, smiles for the camera in front of a yellow "Bronson Positivity" sign.

In 2018, following a work-related accident, I underwent surgery. During surgery, it was found that I also had multiple myomas – a form of blood cancer.

As a former pediatric and trauma nurse, cancer was unfamiliar to me. However, as soon as I met with my oncologist at the Bronson Cancer Center in Battle Creek, I was reassured that I would be okay and that I was in good hands. Through trial and error, and after discovering a new drug allergy, my care team found the right combination of medications to help me fight cancer. The team was patient and kind, always taking the time to sit with me, hold my hand and explain my condition in a way I could understand. My questions were always answered.

The nurses and staff at the Cancer Center are incredible—efficient, joyful and always making me feel like the only patient in the room. They bring so much warmth and positivity, and I love them dearly.

My cancer - multiple myoma - isn’t like most other cancers. It doesn’t go away but instead goes dormant, with the possibility of waking up at any time. It stayed asleep for 22 months, but recently it reawakened and I’m now undergoing treatment again. This time around, I am being seen by a newer provider, Dr. Nair. He has been just as kind and wonderful as everyone else!

Thanks to my amazing care team, I’ve been able to experience so much in life. I’ve watched two of my grandchildren marry wonderful partners and have been blessed to see three of my great-granddaughters born. I am forever grateful to my team at the Bronson Cancer Center in Battle Creek for helping me be here today.
