Blessed to have Nurse Caitlyn
My husband was a patient on the ICU and unfortunately he did not make it out of the hospital. During my time there, which was just a few short days, my husband AND myself received unbelievable care from everyone. I’d specifically like to recognize Caitlyn.
Caitlyn was our nurse for multiple days and took such great care. I’m sure that she had other patients, but I would have never known. She knew what my husband needed and what I needed, without me saying a word. She took the time and care to properly bathe him, even bringing in “good” deodorant and detangler spray for his hair. She encouraged all of us to spend time with him, play his favorite music, and talk to him. She ensured that I got a shower, provided me with a toothbrush and toothpaste. I could go on and on about all of the ways she cared for us. She was an angel from God and I’m sure that He put her in our path because He knew her heart. She is absolutely in the right profession.
When the time came to take him off life support, Caitlyn made sure he was comfortable and told me that she would give me privacy and to push a button if I needed anything. I asked for 5 minutes alone before the rest of our family came in. She assured me that she would get them herself. After just a few minutes, she did come in and tell me that she did not think that he would live for the 5 minutes plus time for everyone else to say goodbye. While I’m sure that was a difficult thing to say, she did so with such grace and compassion and made it so that everyone could be there with him as he went to meet our Lord. After his heart stopped, she told us to take all the time we needed and then when I was leaving she ensured we had all of his belongings and even reminded me to take care of myself.
Never once did she stop taking care of all of us. We were blessed to have her as a nurse and Bronson is blessed to have her, too.
