Bringing Joy and Normalcy to Families: Why We Celebrate Halloween at Bronson

To me, exceptional care means caring for our patients and their families as a whole—physically, mentally and emotionally. It means showing compassion and giving encouragement as they navigate the difficult journey of having a child in the hospital. Sometimes, a holiday or celebration is exactly what families need to feel a sense of “normalcy.” When we celebrate the holidays, it reminds our families of the season and brings them a bit of joy.

At Bronson Children’s Hospital, we believe in marking special occasions like Halloween to bring moments of happiness and to keep families connected to the world outside the hospital. For families who may be here for weeks or even months, it's easy to lose track of time. Having holiday or seasonal decorations around reminds them of the time of year and gives them something special to celebrate. And — everyone in their costumes is so cute!

I feel incredibly proud to be part of the team here. I get to plan fun events that help our families feel connected and supported through their hospital journey. Being here allows me to care for the whole family, and I love that I get to make this journey a little easier for them.

There’s nothing else I’d rather do. This is what exceptional care is all about. Thank you to the families who let us be a part of their lives, and thank you to my incredible team for bringing these moments of joy to life.
