Providing care and hope for our patients at every step of their cancer journey

Being diagnosed with cancer is life changing for our patients, so providing them with not just exceptional care, but hope as well, is of utmost importance. My philosophy of care has three pillars:

  1. Cancer must be treated with an approach which is patient centered. Patients must feel they are the center of the universe, and I work tirelessly on my patients’ behalf and never settle.
  2. Communication is crucial when treating cancer. It is important to be able to openly explain the treatments and be honest, while also providing hope.
  3. Cancer must be treated with a multidisciplinary approach. Cancer treatment is not just about the interactions between the oncologist and patient – but all medical professionals involved in the care. This is what is great about the Bronson Cancer Center. Because cancer affects so many aspects of a patient’s life, we have teammates who help with social and emotional concerns, financial assistance, and so much more.

In addition to my three pillars of exceptional cancer care, I believe that patient education is a key part of cancer treatment. The more education we can we provide to our patients, the more knowledge they have and the better they feel – which improves their outlook, emotional state and hope. At the Bronson Cancer Center, this is something we take very seriously. Our team is committed to making sure that our patients are equipped with the information they need at every step of their cancer journey.

One final aspect that is key to how I am able to successfully care for my patients is technology, research and clinical trials. At Bronson, we have invested in new and advanced treatment technology, and we are part of a nation-wide consortium for clinical trials. This means that our patients have access to new, cutting-edge treatment options that may not yet be available to the general public.  Additionally, I have personally been a principal investigator on several research projects, where I work to advance the field of oncology medicine.

Overall, being a cancer doctor is very rewarding. To be able to help patients when they need us the most is what I love most… The ability to change and help people and treat a disease that is life changing is very gratifying. Continuing to care for patients is my goal in life. This is what I want to do. This is what I have done all my life. I want to continue doing this – especially at a place like Bronson.
