The Child Life Program is a Valuable Asset
My 13-year-old daughter was an admitted patient multiple times in January and February of 2025. Being in the hospital for a teenager can be very stressful. The staff of the Child Life program helped make these experiences easier. They provided tools like fidgets to occupy her hands while reminding her to take deep breaths during procedures such as a challenging IV insertion. The music therapist visited a couple of times and taught music skills which helped to provide a distraction from pain and boredom of being in the hospital. The art therapist spent time doing activities that helped her to embrace her creativity during challenging times.
