We are extremely fortunate to have Dawn on our PACU team

Dawn is one of the most well-rounded clinical RNs I have had the fortune to work with. Her expertise broadly encompasses virtually every specialty of nursing care, and she is willing and able to share that knowledge both in the routine daily work and during clinical emergencies or challenges.
I have worked side-by-side with her during clinical emergencies and her critical thinking skills are superior. She knows what to do, why to do it, and how. Her collaborative skills ensure that everyone else assisting in the care of the patient is engaged and empowered to speak up with their ideas, yet she also knows when it is her time to follow the lead of another practitioner. This expertise extends beyond clinical care and into other arenas, such as leadership. Dawn is able to step into a leadership role when required, yet also can be counted to fully support other nurses who may be in that role at that time by sharing her experience and knowledge in a manner that the current leader is able to receive for the positive influence it is intended to be. Furthermore, she can communicate all kinds of information to patients and families in a professional yet highly individualized way so that everyone understands.
Dawn is also a resource for the more mundane aspects of working at the hospital. If you need to know who to talk to about an issue, where you need to call or who can help, Dawn is one of the most reliable sources of that information. Her knowledge extends to other nursing units and the care they are able to provide. Finally, Dawn is able to share her experience with other professionals outside of nursing such as surgeons and anesthesia to optimize the care of our patients and ensure quality outcomes. We are extremely fortunate to have a resource and outstanding professional RN like Dawn on our PACU team!
