As a Bronson employee, as well as a longtime patient, I have always valued the hard work exhibited by our security staff when it comes to keeping our facilities safe and secure. Along with this dedication to our safety, I have witnessed countless scenarios in which the team has shown compassion and caring to patients and their family members as well.

On the morning of January 23rd, my family found themselves gaining a first-hand knowledge of how selfless, caring and quick to action one of our Bronson Security Officers was. On this day, my husband was traveling home from Battle Creek on I-94 and slid, eventually flipping the car multiple times before coming to a stop with the back end of the car up on the bridge overlooking US-131. When the car finally came to a stop, he struggled to get out, as all of the air bags were deployed, the windows were busted and the roof was caved in. Once he crawled out, he was extremely dazed and confused, unable to process what to do. A passerby witnessed the accident and rushed to check on him, calling 911 as soon as he saw the accident, allowed him to stay warm and safe in his vehicle until help arrived and provided helpful information to the first responders. The gentleman that demonstrated this quick thinking and willingness to help a stranger was one of our own, Security Officer Donald Borieo. Our family is extremely grateful that Donald was there during this time and that he was caring enough to take the time out of his day, risk his safety to be out on the icy highway in the elements and be a friendly face in this time of need. His actions that day demonstrated Bronson Positivity at its finest!
