As a Mom and a Nurse, I Applaud Them
We were on a family vacation this past weekend. My son started to complain of severe belly pain. We came to the Bronson South Haven Emergency Department and Level IV Trauma Center and were seen immediately. We were greeted with kindness from registration and every nurse, tech and doctor. My son was in pain and apprehensive. Morgan Weeks, RN and Brandy Wilkins, PCA, were and Dr Roberts were absolutely phenomenal. I don’t have words to express the compassion that Dr Roberts exhibited. You have an amazing team there.
We were transferred to the Bronson Children’s Hospital that night to rule out appendicitis. The admission process was the most seamless process I have witnessed in years. I am a nurse leader on the east side of Michigan and have worked in healthcare for 34 years. The care that my son received from the moment we walked into the emergency room stating we were a direct admit through discharge on Sunday was nothing short of outstanding. Dr. Monica Patton and Dr. Hannah Sorensen, Carly, the admitting nurse Saturday night, Chris, The nurse Sunday morning, Haley, the tech, Elizabeth Phillips, childcare specialist and Dr. Downey Were amazing. They made sure that every question was answered and that I felt comfortable with the plan. They not only gave my son comfort, but they gave me comfort.
I was at the nurses station. I saw a plaque, awarding the nurses there for their care. I concur that the staff at Bronson’s Children’s Hospital deserve every award, every pat on the back, every accolade and every clap. As a mom and as a nurse, I applaud them.
