Erin was truly a gift that night
Erin - a nurse at the Brosnon BirthPlace - was such a bright shining light just when we needed her most. We had been told Monday evening that I would have to be induced due to my elevated blood pressure. We started the induction process that night and had a long 3 days of trying multiple ways to have our baby girl. Not much progress had been made and by Thursday night I had felt very defeated. Erin came in our room and immediately my husband and I could tell we were in good hands. She had come in our room saying “let’s have a baby tonight”. Of course we were more than ready. She had spent the first part of the night checking on me and my baby as I was having pretty strong contractions on pitocin. They were picking up but the pattern was irregular. Erin was the first one to tell us that our baby was just not right where she should be in order to come down. She immediately got to work looking up positions and circuits to help our baby get down where she needed to be. She told my husband to put on some music at 12:30am and we got to work. She helped position me and tried everything we could to get her to move down. She got my husband involved and had him help with stretching my hips. Her attitude was so positive and uplifting even for the middle of the night. She was truly exactly who we needed that night. I felt we had made the most progress in just a few short hours with Erin than we had all week. When the doctor came in to check me early the next morning and I was told there was not much change, I felt so defeated. Erin immediately could tell and told me not to be discouraged because I had made even a little step in the right direction. She made us a hat with a bow on it to keep us positive and looking forward to having our baby girl. Little did I know she had put a note in the hat to keep me motivated and keep my spirits up. We found it after we had delivered our daughter later that day. Erin was truly a gift that night and exactly what I needed to keep moving forward. Thank you, Erin, for everything you did for us that night. We will always be thankful and so blessed to have met you.
