Sue displayed a level of care and empathy that was above and beyond
I fell from a ladder on 12/19/24 and suffered 2 broken heels and 5 broken ribs which punctured and collapsed my right lung. I spent the first 2 nights in the ICU before they ran out of beds and I was transferred to Sue Fern's unit for my last 2 days. I had Sue as my nurse on both dayshifts of my stay there and while all of my nurses in both units were wonderful, Sue displayed a level of care and empathy that was above and beyond. Her professionalism, demeanor, empathy and skill made me feel like I had the best nurse in the world! Although I tried not to ask for help often (be a burden), Sue encouraged me to ask for help anytime and I feel she checked on me more often because she knew I hesitated to push my call button. I also observed her behavior with other patients which was consistent, patient, empathetic and obvious that she has the patience of a Saint. One patient in the room beside me, in particular, was constantly hollering for the nurses, calling them 'Honey' and clapping for them when not acknowledged immediately. Sue was so patient and wonderful in how she responded to him despite his constant demands and despite how busy she always was. Sue also gave me such encouragement in my own painful healing journey and made me feel proud of myself for the work I did to be discharged. I cannot thank her enough. Bronson patients that are lucky enough to get her as their nurse will heal faster because of her expert care and genuine care for them as people during one of the most difficult times in their lives.
