They Were Exceptional in Their Care
My mom recently passed from a cerebral aneurysm. The care they provided was exceptional in the Neuro ICU. I do not know all of the staff that assisted my mom and family, but I would like to recognize two amazing nurses.
First was Renee Rinna, RN. She was professional, empathetic and gracious. When we changed her code status to comfort care, Renee responded quickly and did not allow my mom to suffer. Anytime I needed anything, all I had to do was move the curtain to find her and she was there. I am forever grateful to her for making our last moments with our mom a little easier. Renee went above and beyond with her care. With that being said, Renee should be honored with the Daisy award. She was exceptional beyond what was expected.
Secondly, I'd like to recognize Patient Care Assistant Jodi Wheeler. She was the Charge nurse the night my mom passed away. While my mom did not last long into her shift, Jodi was very attentive, caring and empathetic. She was also always watching for us to need something. When my mom passed, it was difficult to leave her. Jodi came and sat next to my mom so that we could leave and know she wasn't alone. This was incredibly selfless and made all the difference for my sister. I feel that Jodi went above and beyond what is expected as a nurse. She should also receive a Daisy award for her exceptional care.
As a nurse myself I do know what it takes to make a good nurse. They both were far from being a good nurse, they were exceptional in their care and disposition. I am forever grateful that we had such thoughtful, caring, and knowledgeable nurses caring for my mom. Thank you so very much for helping us through one of the toughest days of our life.
