Gretchen Provided Outstanding Care and Compassion

We would love to recognize patient care assistant, Gretchen! She provided outstanding care and compassion for my mother-in-law during a long stay at Bronson in Kalamazoo.

Each time she entered the room, things felt lighter. Our family felt a true sense of relief the day that Gretchen was part of the care team. She was very intentional about meeting our loved one where she was at as far as physical ability, emotionally and cognitively. Gretchen adjusted by the second to maintain the positive and supportive atmosphere.

When she was met with hesitation or fear, Gretchen took the time to pause, hold space and provide comfort. There was even a moment where Gretchen initiated demonstrating what the next steps would look like, moving from the bed to chair. There was genuine laughter, smiles and happy tears that day. Gretchen felt like part of the family, like she was taking care of someone that she also loved.

She was truly incredible and we are so grateful for her!
