Helping to Shape a Culture Where People Feel Heard, Supported, and Empowered

It is a pleasure to nominate Brian Gialamas for the Nursing Excellence Award - Respect. Brian is an exceptional nurse who consistently demonstrates what it means to provide care grounded in respect, compassion, and professionalism. Brian does an outstanding job partnering in care and decisions. I always see him conducting bedside handoff, intentionally involving patients in conversations about their care. He makes sure they feel heard, informed, and included - honoring their voice and acknowledging their autonomy in a meaningful way. As a relief charge, Brian reflects our leadership team with integrity and consistency. He leads with honesty and ethics, always doing what is right for patients and the team. His calm and respectful approach helps create an environment where people feel supported and valued. Brian also excels at fostering acceptance and trust, especially when working with new employees. As a preceptor, he creates a safe and welcoming space where nurses feel comfortable asking questions and learning without fear of judgment. He values diversity of thought and knowledge, recognizing that every team member brings something important to the table. His ability to lead with patience and understanding speaks to his natural sense of forgiveness and compassion - he meets people where they are and helps them grow. Brian's consistent respect for patients, families, and colleagues is evident in everything he does. He helps shape a culture where people feel heard, supported, and empowered.
