Her expertise is highly regarded
Juanita Baker, PCA, is the recipient of the 2025 Sunshine Award
Juanita is a PCA on the ortho-surgical unit, and has been at Bronson for 25+ years. She has trained almost everyone on the unit and we often refer to her as the “charge PCA”. She is always jumping in to help! She has been known to stay late to help the oncoming staff who were short. She checks on everyone who is new and anyone floated to the unit as well. One time an extern was floated to the OSU. They had never worked as a PCA on their own and Juanita showed him the ropes and helped check vitals and sugars for him. Patients often comment about how awesome she is and how safe they feel around her. She predicts what the patients need and attends to all their requests with compassion. She is absolutely irreplaceable and a true team player!
Juanita is known on the floor as the "charge PCA" for good reasons. She has worked at Bronson for many years, and her expertise and commitment for caring for her patients shows every day she comes to work. She starts her day making sure all of her patients get baths, and the rest of the day she makes sure all of her patient’s needs are attended to as quickly as possible. Her expertise is highly regarded and the nurses often even ask for her opinion on some of the care that patients need on the floor. I don’t know a single person who works as hard as Juanita does.
