We provide high-quality care close to home

As a medical oncologist at the Bronson Cancer Center, my top priority when treating my patients is to help them understand their condition and provide them with the best care possible. The most fulfilling part of my job as an oncologist is helping patients through this process – which tends to be a very scary time for many patients. They are navigating many new experiences, including attending several appointments with different providers and completing a variety of tests. For me, it's very fulfilling to help them work through that process and ensure they fully understand their diagnosis, treatment options and treatment plan.

One of the things that sets Bronson’s cancer program apart from others is the high caliber of care we provide within a smaller community. Being a part of the Bronson System, our patients have easy access to different specialists, all connected through Epic/MyChart, which provides a seamless care experience. We also hold several accreditations and participate in research studies, meaning our patients can feel confident that we are upholding high standards of care while also providing access to the latest, most up-to-date treatment options that may not be available at other cancer centers. I grew up in West Michigan - my family is still here in West Michigan - so I understand the importance of having access to quality care close to home.

Also very important, our cancer program takes a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. This means that we make sure the patient receives the best care from various dimensions. As part of the Bronson system, I work alongside surgeons, radiation oncologists, pathologists and other specialists. We offer a survivorship program, art therapy, nurse navigation, financial navigation and many other support services. This means that patients are receiving a well-rounded treatment experience that addresses more than just their medical care – we are also addressing their mental and social needs in a holistic way.

I am proud to be a part of the cancer care team here at Bronson in Kalamazoo.
