A privilege to walk beside our patients through their cancer journey

Sarah Coon, nurse navigator, smiles for the camera.

I started my career at Bronson as a floor nurse on the cardio-pulmonary unit at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Since then, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to grow both personally and professionally. While working on cardio-pulmonary, I earned my BSN degree with the help of Bronson’s tuition reimbursement program. Then, I was able to step into several new roles, including triage and leadership positions at the Bronson Neuroscience Center and nurse navigation at the Bronson Breast Health Center. Today, I’m a nurse navigator at the Bronson Cancer Center—my dream job.

As an oncology nurse navigator, I am able to support newly diagnosed patients during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives. While our team at the Cancer Center sees this type of thing every day, it’s a brand new and often overwhelming experience for our patients. I’m here to guide them through it, helping to relieve some of the logistical and emotional stress so they can focus on what matters most—treatment and healing. It’s an honor to be that trusted support.

I’m also incredibly proud to work alongside such an amazing team. From our oncologists and nurses to schedulers and support staff, everyone here is dedicated to putting our patients first. That teamwork combined with our shared commitment to exceptional care is reflected in our many oncology accreditations. For our nursing team here at Bronson Methodist Hospital in particular, it is also a reflection of our four-time Magnet® designation and the level of excellence we are always striving for.

I love what I do, and I’m grateful every day for the opportunity to make a difference in our patients’ lives.
