Our efficiency and quality of care are directly impacted by Jeff being a member of our team!

Jeff Weessies is one of the most impactful staff members on the BBC PACU as it regards day-to-day operations. He has embraced the changes necessary to adapt to increasing volumes by adopting and promoting measures developed both by leadership and by fellow staff to improve throughput and patient safety. This has resulted in a significant and trending decrease in length-of-stay.
Jeff has also been a clinical leader in the development and evolution of our Same-Day Joint Program. With this new program, many patients who used to require an overnight stay after surgery are now able to go home safely on the same day as surgery. In fact, our Same-Day Joint Program has discharge times that are much lower than national benchmarks, further improving throughput.
Jeff also serves as a preceptor to new PACU RNs. He has been extremely effective in that role, with every RN he has precepted being ready and able to work independently at the completion of their scheduled orientation.
Finally, Jeff is a charge nurse and has further impacts on throughput and efficiency by managing flow from the OR and into phase II care, stepping in to address and correct issues as they occur in the unit, and manages the adjustment of staffing to meet the ebb and flow of Phase I and phase 1 and phase II care. I know that our efficiency and quality of care are directly impacted by Jeff being a member of our team!
