Kindness and empathy
My whole team was wonderful. The stand outs are PCA Brianna, Nurse Taylor, Nurse Grace and Nurse Jenni. Also, Dr. Punke. They were all exceptionally kind. They all seemed to truly care and especially at a time when I was in the most pain and discomfort. There was true empathy and each individual really listened to me and went (in my opinion) the extra mile to make me as comfortable as possible. There never seemed to be any annoyance, ever. When I wanted to shower and the water temperature would not heat properly, Brianna made it possible to shower in another location in privacy. All four of them checked on me regularly without prompting, listened when I would start to cry. They never, ever made me feel like I am just “the job”. Not once. Kindness and empathy are a God send to me when I am at my lowest. Indifference is almost worse than outright hostility. Especially when you are so sick and wracked with pain.
I haven’t had such a positive experience during a hospital stay in years. They were all in their own way rays of light in a very dark time for me and I will be forever grateful to the whole Care Team. This may not sound extraordinary but to me they all were extraordinary and I thank them for all their relentless hard work and caring.
