Kristin has been instrumental in the success of Bronson Battle Creek

Over the past few years, Kristin Visel has been instrumental in the success of Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. Her leadership within the Trauma and Emergency Center has been phenomenal. She is always kind and professional and holds herself accountable for any projects and processes that she is working on. A major initiative for the T&EC has been reducing the number of patients who leave without being seen. This has meant lots of changes for staff and Kristin has been key in gaining buy-in, supporting her team through the challenges of the new processes, and really stepping up to lead by example to get our patients seen in a timely manner.

In the past, the ED has felt very separate from the rest of the hospital, but Kristin has worked tirelessly to foster relationships with her inpatient leadership partners. She reliably represents her staff and nursing teams at system meetings and has been actively involved in the nursing manager group for Bronson Battle Creek. She has worked extremely hard to understand how the ED and inpatient units can work together for patient care, ensuring that her team is engaged in building relationships with others outside of the T&EC. She has genuinely promoted a culture of connectedness and inclusivity that the ED and inpatient units have not seen in the past. Operations run much smoother as a result of her drive to understand their interconnectivity.

Kristin has also been a tremendous resource for recruitment and retention efforts as she consistently participates in Nurse Extern and Graduate Nurse hiring initiatives. She is often the first to volunteer to interview any candidates interested in working at Bronson Battle Creek. She has been a large champion for her Nurse Externs, stepping in to mentor and guide her staff whenever needed.

If all of that wasn’t enough, she also keeps the community in mind while she makes decisions as a leader. She has a vast amount of knowledge in emergency preparedness and uses her passion in that area to not only see what is best for Bronson but also for the surrounding community.

Kristin's dedication to patient care and true leadership is astounding. We are so proud and happy to have her as a leader at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital!
