The Place With The Heart

A poem by Bronson Commons patient, Mary.

The Place With The Heart, a poem by Mary, a patient at Bronson Commons.

Bronson Commons is a very special place.
There are lots of rooms with plenty of space.
They help you get back on your feet.
It is a wonderful place that can’t be beat.

You are given a chance to get well again.
I speak from experience as that’s where I have been.
I could scarcely walk when I came through their door.
They worked with me until my body was restored.

The therapist worked with me day after day.
They showed me how I could find a way.
To help me get back on track.
When my body’s strength I lacked.

The people here – each and every one,
treat you with respect and make it fun.
It is a cheerful place with a heart of gold.
You are gently lifted into their fold.

The time passes quickly and before very long
You are going out the door saying “so long.”

So many lives pass through the day.
Each with their own tender way.
I never heard anyone complain.
They treat each and everyone the same.

The nurses and aids come when you call.
They may have had a rough day but they always have a smile.

The therapist help you get better
If you follow their advice to the letter.
It is not easy as some movements bring pain.
You need to do them so your strength you regain.

The food is good and you know ahead what is being served.
If you don’t like what you see,
Look at the menu and get what is pleasing to thee.

The window faces the court yard
And so many birds I see.
It helps to relax both you and me.
