Bronson Not Only Saved My Life, But They Also Protected My Brain

I am very grateful for the care I received across the Bronson Healthcare system when I had critically low sodium and potassium levels, which resulted in a severe seizure where I stopped breathing.

First, I need to thank the pharmacist at Bronson Outpatient Pharmacy in Paw Paw who educated and warned me that my new blood pressure medication might interact with my inhalers and cause low sodium levels. She told me what signs to watch out for and advised me to get emergency care if I had symptoms.

Bronson LakeView Hospital Emergency Department took me right in without a wait and I ended up getting admitted to treat for my low sodium and potassium levels. That evening I had a severe seizure and stopped breathing. They administered emergency care and I was transferred to the neurocritical care unit (NCCU) at Bronson Methodist Hospital. I woke up there after being extubated and Dr. Larry Morgan and his team did a wonderful job explaining what had happened and what the plan for my care.

During my stay in the NCCU, I had excellent and attentive nursing care. I can see why Bronson is a Magnet hospital four times in a row! Respiratory care, physical therapy and occupational therapy also did a wonderful job attending to my needs as I felt a little discombobulated while I recovered.

I am very glad that I received such good care throughout the Bronson Healthcare system. They not only saved my life, but they protected my brain and I feel much better due to the care I received throughout my stay.
