I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for the Bronson Cancer Center
I am a cancer patient being treated at Bronson Cancer Center in Kalamazoo. Everyone is amazing at this facility. The RNs in the infusion lab are top of the line, so professional and caring. The admin assistant that checks us in and puts little stickers on our wrist bands, adds such a great personal touch, and with her friendly demeanor and smile makes everything a little better. The relaxed atmosphere and positive employees in this facility make it a pleasurable experience every time. No, having chemo is not fun, but the heated recliner, with warm blanket and pillow make it the perfect place to snuggle in and read a good book while receiving chemo, or in my case I would doze off and nap a little in between reading. Currently, I'm getting IV fluids, I'm done with chemo, but due to a blockage/tumor in my esophagus taking anything by mouth can be challenging, some days just swallowing my saliva is impossible. So, the little things mean a lot in my day. Usually, every nurse will ask if they can get me ice chips or anything to drink etc. The whole infusion team is outstanding. Today, Maria M in the infusion lab, saw I had some bruising from previous lab attempts at a different facility, I explained they needed to get blood for an upcoming surgery but were unsuccessful. She said she would try to get it for me, prior to the Iv start. And sure, enough she got it! First try! Sigh of relief from me. I was stressing about what I was going to do, or how was anyone going to get this blood, or maybe I should not have the surgery, maybe delay the surgery. So many things go through your head when options seem limited. Needless to say, I was thrilled when she said she was able to get the blood, big sigh of relief from me, surgery is a go! Another thing I like is the reminders, through my chart and phone calls, these are wonderful to keep me on track, so I don't forget anything which is very easy to do with everything going on and being a grandmother. I have nothing but gratitude and appreciation for the Bronson Cancer Center and everyone who is a part of it.
